Our Weekend: Kiwanis Park

Well hello to our first Monday in July! I'm down two cups of coffee and another weekend crossed off the calendar. The past week we have been busy stuffing our faces with ice cream cake, pizza, donuts and everything else in between, all while celebrating Jack's 3rd Birthday (post coming soon) and Canada Day. Our weekend was more so relaxing: Friday the boys played outdoors drawing and eating chalk, we tagged along to dad's haircut appointment and I finished up some laundry. I feel like it takes 3 days to do laundry, anyone else with kids experience this? Brent's parents came over for dinner and we BBQ'd up some homemade bacon cheddar burgers, and yes they taste as good as they sound!Processed with VSCOcam with kk2 presetOn Saturday, Brent usually golfs from 7am - 11am while I get the house in order and Max has a morning nap. By the time Brent gets home and we eat lunch, we are ready to venture out for the day. Saturday was a hot one, so Brent and I decided to take the kids to Kiwanis Park, a local beach-like swimming pool. Jack and Max love the water SO much, Kiwanis Park has ideal swimming for kids- no sand, lifeguards on duty, the water gradually gets deeper, theres large shaded trees to lounge under, a snack shack, playground, and bringing your own portable BBQ and food is welcomed... this place is great! weekend9Max tested out the water and his boundaries, if we let him I think he would go neck deep and not even notice.weekend11Jack did a whole lot of people watching, played some frisbee with Brent and another boy and did plenty of running from the water to our picnic area and back again. Jack loves this place and I love that the boys burn off a ton of energy. weekend8weekend10 weekend13 weekend14 weekendrecap 5.The boys enjoyed some snacks and Max especially admired the mini Oreos, so much that he would run from our spot, look back to make sure we weren't chasing him, sit down and dig into the bag of Oreos- he cracks us up!After a busy afternoon at Kiwanis Park, we ordered pizza, sat on our patio and enjoyed a cold one. On Sunday we headed to church and Brent's brother's family came over. The boys love playing with their cousins and they flight like siblings- there's a lot of refereeing that takes place over toys. Sunday night was another story, the boys have been battling colds for a week and a half. Poor Max is also getting a few more teeth so he was having a rough go and refused to sleep during the night. He's been so good sleeping through the night for months, I forgot what it was like to wake up and settle a baby during the night. That explains the two cups of coffee and likely another after lunch!Hope you had a great weekend, thanks for reading, signature
