Above is my inspiration as to what I would like our kitchen to ultimately look like with some of our current finishes! Galvanized and natural, modern and rustic with pops of colour! Below are pictures of our kitchen before we moved in and of our current kitchen to date.

Our Kitchen: Before

361kitchenbefore1Since moving in we've:

• Painted the kitchen, twice• Installed floor tile (But we'll need to replace it over time because of an installment error)• Built a custom island• Replaced cabinet hardware• New stainless steel appliances• Removed backsplash & replaced with ledgestone

361kitchenbefore2 361kitchenbefore3Notice that half wall? How could you not!! We removed that when we installed the new flooring, but boy did that ever open up the kitchen - what were people thinking back in 1997?  I guess everyone has their own preferences, right!?

Our Kitchen: First Change

kitchenbefore5My mom has a similar colour in her living room and I have always admired it. But after three years I wanted a change, and I really wanted to brighten the room up and give our kitchen a different appeal- more of a modern twist.kitchenbefore1 kitchenbefore6Look at these boys... up to no good!

Our Kitchen: Currently

kitchenafterprogress2The walls have been painted, lighter and brighter! Down the road we are planning to paint our cabinets white. I also want to slowly change the accent colour (red) to more cool tone colours.kitchenafterprogress3I plan to make floating corner shelves for the left corner, above the plant. The light fixture will be changed, and I plan to share a DIY tutorial on how to build one. I might sell the red buffet and find another to replace to paint. I would like to paint or buy a new piece of art for above the buffet, even the possibility of a gallery wall consisting of mirrors and fun prints. What do you think, canvas or gallery wall?

Our Kitchen Progress: Before and AfterLook how nice that pink pops next to the paisley yellow curtains :)

Well, we have painted somewhat of a blank slate and this kitchen still has a ways to go, it could be another year or so until it starts to piece together how I envision it! I plan to document everything along the way - stay tuned!
